Common Questions

What should Antigo homeowners know about preventing hard water scale and drain clogs?

Antigo's water can contribute to mineral buildup, or scale, in pipes and appliances. We recommend considering water softener systems and performing regular faucet aerator clean-outs. For drain clogs, common in older homes, we advise against chemical cleaners which can damage pipes. Instead, use drain screens and schedule periodic professional drain inspections and cleanings. Our local experience helps us identify problem areas specific to Antigo homes and provide lasting solutions.

Do you handle both the plumbing and electrical work for a project like a bathroom remodel?

Yes, absolutely. As a fully licensed plumbing and electrical contractor, we are uniquely positioned to manage both aspects of a project like a bathroom renovation. This includes all new plumbing installation for fixtures, drains, and water pipes, as well as the electrical wiring for lighting, outlets, and ventilation fans. Being your single point of contact from start to finish simplifies coordination, ensures code compliance, and can be more economical.

You mention septic system installations. Do you perform the required soil tests too?

Yes, we provide a complete service. We perform the necessary soil tests (often called perk tests) to evaluate your property's drainage capacity. Using our own excavating equipment and holding all required licenses, we then handle the entire septic system design and installation. This integrated approach, backed by over 42 years in the Langlade County area, ensures the system is properly sized and installed for long-term reliability.

Our Story

Digger's Plumbing & Electric is a family-owned business with deep roots in Antigo, Wisconsin. It began in 1972 when Edwin 'Eddie' Kummer Jr. founded White Lake Plumbing & Electric. His son-in-law, Gordon 'Digger' Kummer, started apprenticing with Eddie in 1976 while completing his military service and schooling, eventually earning his master licenses. In 1980, Digger and his wife Holly purchased the business, continuing a tradition of hands-on, family-operated service. For over 42 years, they have built a reputation on providing reliable plumbing and electrical solutions, from complex septic system installations and well pump work to everyday repairs. They operate their own excavating equipment and hold all necessary licenses, ensuring projects are handled efficiently from start to finish. The Kummers take pride in serving their Northwoods community with honest, practical, and economical service.
